No, 37 pattern means "repro" unless you've got very deep pockets.

49 pattern will do as will denims.

Excellent Smithers...

Could be the one and only chance I get to use my Manc. Regt. No.2s :D

Do you have any reference pics?

6) brown groundsheet/raincape (I will be very impressed if anyone manages to get one of these).

Schipperfabrik do them (at a wallet-thinning $74.95  )

This is Serge SDs... as worn in WWI you know?

Though I'm having problems finding pictures of it worn at dunkirk at the moment!

They were definitely what some BEF troops wore when they went to france.

No, thats khaki... brown is darker.

Though apparently the really correct version is actually a camouflage one!

Me too... I'm umming and ahhing about the SD though since I can't find pics of it late on with the BEF. The latest I've seen is Dec 1939.

I may just go with 37 pat... as I do have a suit ready.

I just converted a skeleton water bottle cover to a side opening... :) I had to use some glue on the popper though so it'll take some time to dry.

The cover is actually pea green blancoed already and I think I'm going to take it down to B&Q next week to get a colour match on some emulsion paint. I'll see what a total mess I can make with that!

From what you say of the scenario, and the role-playing element you mention it has a distinct flavour of 'commando magazine/boys own action adventure' type pulpiness, and I think a lone Pole works there. Aesthetically speaking of course.

Heh, that's just my prose style. Still, to me all CiA games have a fair old dash of Commando magazine (ooh look, my game ad banner has the style too  )

Everything works, once you let a little pulp into your life...

A stranded Merchant Navy Lieutenant and a couple of tough seamen would look great, IMHO. Thing is Merchant Seamen should always be dressed for the cold in those dinky turtle-necks and greatcoats, and you would swelter in July.

I like the idea for downed/on foot RAF pilot, may have to dig through my Blues kit bag that I have not seen in three years for some kit, just got to find flying boots and flying jacket from somewhere, plus hat as well

"Will you stop talking about the war!!"
"What, you started it!"
"We did NOT start it!"
"Yes you did, you invaded Poland..."

In truth not so much a downed pilot as evacuated crews & staff as we were flying from airfields all over France. I'm currently on issue 9 of The War Weekly (22nd December 1939) and they have been full of stories of how well or Army and Airforce are getting on with the French and how rubbish the German aircraft are...

I tell you what - they are a fantastic read. I was considering doing a weekly series on this forum "This week in THE WAR WEEKLY" so you can follow events as they are related to the British public!
(I jumped to the Dunkirk period and was astonished how low key the coverage was - naive of me I know!)

Chap on Long eaton market sells copies of 'the war illustrated' for about 30p each, they are fantastic. I bought a load up last month.

Its not that difficult to get them, there are quite a few about. I have two, and many PBI members already have them.

The real problem is the BD. SoF have put their prices up. So for people on a budget the best option is some denims from replicaters...
